Tales From The River Bank....

Fishing again today in a spot a few hours from Mysore. We travel with Austin and meet for a breakfast of fresh fruit salad lovingly prepared by his mom,

after we jump in the mad van again with his father and later pick up two fishermen from a village near the river. There are some monsters lurking in the depths...75kilo fish not uncommon here....They cook up the magic bait for the Mahseer and bring some worms too....
they fish with bamboo rods.. I fish with my back up rod as my fave new one got mashed by Luftansa. Austin had repaired it but it now snapped in a different place.. god dam..

We travel through the city filling up the tyres at a petrol station. 6 big guys in small van thats why... and out into the countryside heading west to where two rivers meet.

We stop at a drinks stand and grap a glass of fresh lemon pop spiced with pepper... wow this drink was so refreshing. It was a pity rob decided to throw his over himself.... He was just about to say hey you better watch out for th... when he slipped down a hole.... After 30 minutes of giggling and 30 minutes on a road that rattled all our teeth out we finally reach our destination and have lunch. And what a fantastic chicken curry with ghee chapati... Thank you Hilda Bangera ;O) We fished for a few hours after... I missed a couple of monsters... I know there in here at least now.... the other guys caught a few small ones nothing of note... we seen plenty of swirls in the water with the occasional monster jumping but couldn't catch... still it was nice here... i watched two kingfishers plucking snacks of fish from the river... dam why not me... I needed to contemplate tactics.

Being with the Fishy'sI decided I needed to get closer with my fishy friends... and commandered the use of a natives corricle... now the thought of two in this flimsy boat type thing is ok... but 5? I ask if any crocs are present... no sir.... ok... cool... in for a penny we jump in and spread about... we are level with the surface of the river which is kinda weird... the boatman takes us into the middle where the two rivers meet... Its calm with a slow current... we dip in and out of trees casting here and there but it just wasnt happening fish wise... we head back drifting in the current watching the water turning gold in the setting sun... awesome moment here.... the simple life of fisherman seems very appealing...

To be continued.....
